ARCH1101 STUDIO SESSION ONE

1. MY BEST PIECE OF CREATIVE WORK AT HIGH SCHOOL

HKSA Bowling Nite 08 Poster

This is a poster I've designed for the event "HKSA Bowling Nite 2008". The design is quite simple. It includes the logo of sponsors, a picture of two bowling pins, the title and the details of the event. The colour main colours I’ve used were black and white. However, in order to stand out the word “Unlimited”, red colour was used. The reason I’ve chosen the picture of two bowling pins is that it can it brings out the idea of what’s the poster is about, bowling. Besides, I’ve used the word “nite”, which is commonly used in msn or sms, instead of night, since the target of the event is young university students. Also, to stand out the topic of the event, the text below it was shaded. Yet, this makes the words unclear for small size printings.

2. AN IMAGE OF THE BUILDING THAT INSPIRED ME TO BECOME AN ARCHITECT

Eiffel Tower in Paris (La Tour Eiffel)

Eiffel Tower was built in 1889 in Paris. It is named after Gustave Eiffel (architect, designer, and engineer). The Eiffel Tower is the tallest structure in Paris. It was reigned for 40 years as the tallest in the world. In order to make the tower extremely light but able to withstand huge wind forces, it was designed with metal lattice-work, formed with structural iron. Although I've never been to Paris, I was amazed of it's golden colour during the night and its structural design. I can imagine what's it like when standing atop the Eiffel Tower which the structure is open to the wind.

3. AN ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH OF SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL

Sunset

The picture was taken from the main walkway, facing Anzac Parade. The building on the left is the Red Centre and the one on the right is the Webster. The most amazing part of this photo is the sunset and the colour of the sky. Although the sun wasn’t shown clearly in the photo, we can still clearly indicate the location of the sun, between the trees. I love the colourful sky in the photo as the harmonious colour makes me feel so relax and clam.
